Description

Evertoon lets users turn stories into 3D animated movies. In two minutes, you can make a movie of yourself chatting with Taylor Swift or debating politics with Barack Obama.

The online video industry is growing explosively, but most user-generated content still consists of a person talking straight into the camera. We don't go to the movie theatre or watch television to see Brad Pitt talk directly into the camera for two hours. We expect more: a story between characters with dialogue. Evertoon puts you in the director’s chair.

Evertoon lets users put photographs onto 3D avatars' faces, and record dialogue. Voice filters and emojis-turned-into-animations bring further excitement, allowing users to create movies they'll want to share on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube. The process is so easy that one user published a parody of Peyton Manning from the comfort of his couch after watching the Superbowl -- no lights, backdrop, or actors required.

Evertoon has proven to be popular for making parodies of current events and celebrities, and bringing movie / television show fan fiction to life. Our vision is to democratize storytelling, so that anyone can make story-based movies, regardless of their location, race, gender, age, or appearance.

Funding

We raised seed funding of $1.7M from Greylock Discovery Fund, Arena VC, Amino Capital, ChinaRock, and strategic angel investors including former Reddit CEO Ellen Pao, Wealthfront VP Ali Rosenthal, and Quora cofounder Charlie Cheever.

History

Niniane has loved avatars and storytelling since creating Google Lively in 2006. She has wanted to build a moviemaking product since 2010, but waited until smartphones were fast enough to render movies. Our phones have now advanced to the point that they can render a mini version of the same movies that require thousands of servers for movie studios.

Niniane raised $1.7M in seed funding and met Chris, an engineer from Oscar-winning Moonbot. Then Shyam joined Evertoon from being an engineer on the Metal Gear Solid game franchise. Art director Eric came from popular mobile game company GREE, and brought on Kaan, a Zynga animator who once animated DOOM 3.

The team loves watching the quirky Evertoon movies made by users. On two occasions, team members laughed so hard at a Evertoon movie that they cried.
